This review refers to the whole Breeze Litter System--it is really genuinely great! I have used this system for probably about three years and still remain amazed by it. The smell is so well controlled, even when neglected, that I remain surprised. I got my sister to start to use it for her cats (one of whom is diabetic) and she has the same experience.I tried everything. I have bought enclosed boxes, roller boxes (like Omega Paw), Littermate (three incarnations), Litter Robot (two incarnations); I have spent more on litter boxes of every shape and size and smartness--than I want to calculate. I have bought every sort of litter for all of these systems as recommended. Here is the bottom line:Enclosed Boxes: Heavy, expensive, poor odor controlRoller Boxes: Filthy and unwieldyLittermates: Hangs up every chance it can and if you live in a humid climate, they hang up even more.Litter Robot: Absolutely filthy from the moment you wait a day too long and every day thereafter. [I really wanted to love this, but if you don't clean it daily the "refuse" is dragged across the top of the unit so creates a scum of "refuse" all over the thing. Let me define "refuse". This is a mixture of feces, urine, and clumping litter powder (recommended). While I accept that I can be neglectful-- the truth is that if, for example, a "poo" lands the wrong way, it is dragged across the surface...I'll leave the rest to the imagination. Add urine, add clumping litter powder and it becomes a filthy, smelly mess in no time--and almost impossible to clean. You might get off the urine and feces but because of the nature of clumping littler you will never get that off. And let's face it, if you are so fastidious about completely cleaning your litter boxes everyday then why do you need it? For multiple cats (I have three Maine Coons) it is a disaster.]Then the Breeze system:I have four boxes for three cats as recommended and what a relief it is. The pellets dehydrate the "poos" and so they become flush-able. Get a pair of gloves, pick them out and flush them in the toilet (after knocking off any pellets of course). No fuss no muss. The urine collection system is the most amazing, even if you leave it beyond what is reasonable it covers the smell. This is amazing to me, time and time and time again. Usually I am good about it but every once in a while I am neglectful--but with the Breeze system I can be neglectful. And even when I am fantastically neglectful, repairing my neglect by replacing the pellets and the pads for four boxes takes me about 20 minutes.Buy it, it's great, it's easy, it's forgiving. No stink! What do you think I used it for? To blow my nose!I love the fact that it smells fresh, is absorbent, easy to dump out of the tray. I only have one cat.I find it a bit pricey but does better than the cheaper ones out there.Though these pads so a terrific job of blocking any cat urine odor, they do not seem to last as long as the package claims. I have a single cat, and need to replace the pads twice per week. We tried stretching to weekly, but the pad fell apart from the weight/saturation of urine. Even then, no odor was released and clean up was gel-like. I have doubts about the effectiveness of the entire system, so am giving it another month before deciding whether or not to switch the entire system.I bought this product for the Tiday Cat Breeze system, because my husband and I were tired of scooping clumping clay litter. We were also tire of dealing with cats that tracked the litter of the box. It's not good for your floors and very annoying to deal with in general. The Pads are the reason why you are no longer dealing with wet clumps of litter. They act like a diaper, maxi pad, or dog pee pad. They are super absorbent. They go in a tray that sits in a compartment below the litter. When the cat pees the liquid filters down through the litter and litter box grate, onto this pee pad. When you scoop the litter you are only scooping the poop. The tray that the pad sits in is rotatable. If your cat only goes on 1 side of the box, you can rotate the pad so that you use full surface area. You can do this without touching the pad itself -- very well thought out design by Tidy Cat. I have 2 cats and 2 boxes. I rotate the pads every 2-3 days and change the pads 1 time every 5-6 days. You can remove the tray completely from the box and tilt it to let gravity slid the pad into the trash. This is so so so much better than wet clumping litter. The cat urine smell with this system is pretty non-existent. The poop smell with the litter is bad at first (similar to clumping litter), but then goes away completely within a few minutes. I do scoop 1-2 a day though. It is much much easier when it is just poop. I am sure it would smell if you let it go for a few days, but I haven't tried.I have heard concerns about the expense of the system. It does cost more than clumping litter, and the pads are part of the reason for that. I have heard that people wash and reuse the litter. It's not something that I have done myself so I cannot speak to the efficacy of that.If you have long haired cats that cannot use clumping litter (ex: Maine Coone) this would be an excellent system to consider. It does require some training to switch over. My husband and I did this several years ago and haven't looked back. Thanks for taking the time to read my review, and I hope you found it helpful in making a purchase decision.I recently got the tidy cats litter box system and am in love! Our kitten adapted very quickly and with no problem, and the clean up for me is much more enjoyable. I hated using clumping litter because it would end up all over the house, and it was hard to keep up with cleaning. With these pee pads, you place it in the tray, and replace every week. It's so easy and convenient! I was hesitant to buy this set up as it is a little expensive but I highly recommend it as an investment for yourself and your cats health. The pads never leak on me, I am very satisfied. The system is very effective; no longer do I have kitty litter mess outside the litter box nor is it tracked through the house. The breeze pads absorb urine while combating odor. The pads are expensive however you can use other pet pads with baking soda to do similar job!Better than brand name ones.Definitely controls odour but it is really difficult to control the odour that comes along with solids.
